Practicing our cutting skills...

Our line leader today!

Our door holder.

Children learn the most when faced with open-ended questions and open-ended tasks, and our rocks in the rock pit is a medium that is inherently open-ended. No matter the skill or cognitive level of the child, the rocks are an appropriate play object. Younger children can simply sit in the rocks and take in the texture and qualities of the medium while older children with more sophisticated thought processes can use the rocks for exploration and creativity. Similarly, there is no specific right or wrong way to play with the rocks. It is appropriate to manipulate or experiment with the rocks in any way that a child wishes. Children find this concept of never being wrong both comforting and liberating in their play.

We had some friends who love to paint.

Beans are still in our sensory table this week.  The kids find the activity of dumping and pouring very soothing as well!

We had a special visitor today! Miss Julie from the Kisker Road Library!

She read us five different stories:
This Book Just Ate My Dog by Richard Byrne

Row, Row, Row Your Boat by Jane Cabrera

Naked by Michael Black

Bear Sees Colors by Karma Wilson

I'm My Own Dog by David Ezra Stein

Sophie was our Artist of the Week last week and I don't think I ever got a picture of it!!

We talked about how God was with Joseph as he went through so many different troubles in his life!

Our friends are doing a good job of finding solutions to our problems...such as figuring out how to share or take turns with toys that we all want to use.

We practiced singing our song for church on Saturday night!

The boys and girls also chose to sing Father Abraham...a favorite.

We did all of our guided dancing on gonoodle.com!  It is a fun way to get the kids moving after sitting for a while and doing such a good job of listening with our guest reader!!

Our friends are also so very helpful with each other when we put our beds together!  It is such a lovely thing to witness friends helping other friends!
We also practiced writing our letter F on the smart board.

All of our "F"s.
