February 16, 2016

I hope your long weekend was restful...we continue on with our castle project this week.

PTL donated a game called Castle Logix.  The game challenges kids to create the castle in the picture developing logic and spatial reasoning skills.

Some times I let kids talk about something they have from home.  This gives kids a chance to use their verbal skills and to be proud and excited to share something with the class...it also gives the other boys and girls a chance to practice being a good listener!  I plan to start having more opportunities for boys and girls to do that soon!

Our calendar helper.

Using our bodies during our pattern practice!

Mat man needed some warm clothes!

We continued our story of the Good Samaritan today during our Jesus Time.  The boys and girls listened so well and are going to try to watch for ways that they can "love their neighbor".

It was drizzly during our outdoor time...so our time was spent in the commons.

We had some mats out today that the kids could practice using their bodies, some rolled some did somersaults, some slithered on their bellies, some crawled, we figured out ways to move our bodies, they also had to take turns since the line would fluctuate as to how many kids would wait in line!

Spending time in the castle!

We learned that the stone masons are the ones who designed and built the castles...our friends spent time designing castles using the shapes of blocks that we had and then built a castle from their design!

More stone mason work!

Such proud architects!

(more pretending)

Our artist of the week painted a picture of her neighborhood!

Kids then were put to work adding "stones" to the castle since castles were made from stone.
