Monday February 8, 2016

This morning we had a special visitor! Pastor Rouland (my husband).  He came to talk with us about Ash Wednesday.  This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, we are going to have a special chapel with the entire school.  The pastors and Mr. Debrick and Mr. Marolf put ashes in the shape of the cross on our foreheads during this service.  Pastor Rouland wanted to talk with us first about the ashes and what they mean before our chapel service.  The ashes help to remind us of the sad things that we do and that we are sorry for them.  They are put in the shape of a cross on our foreheads to remind us that Jesus died on the cross to forgive those sins so that we may live with Him in His forever kingdom one day.

We got the ashes put on our hands to see what they were like and that they don't hurt or anything.

Our calendar helper this morning.

Our meteorologist.

We read a story from the Bible about loving your neighbor.  The story we read was the Good Samaritan...but ours was entitled "The Man Who Helped".  Ask your child if they remember the story this morning...they might need a few reminder questions...we did have our party this morning. :)

It was pretty chilly this morning outside so we stayed in the commons to play.

Then...we had our valentines party. :)

Then we got down to work on our castle...some of us made torches...because they didn't have lamps in castles...they used candles and torches.

Two of our friends designed our flag...we added an "R" for Mrs. Roulands class and we added a rainbow because we love them and they remind us of God's promise to us...and then we added a cross to show that we follow Jesus.

Some of us worked on our crowns...because you need those in a castle!!

We had some knights in our castle.
