concentration and problem solving!
At our morning meeting we take a look at our calendar...we had several birthdays of people we know this week! A friend turned 5 on Monday, one of our friend's sister turned 3, and my brother's is today...good thing we have calendar time...I might have never remembered! We try to use the calendar as a time to get to know each other and find out what is happening in each other's lives. If you have a trip coming up or a parent is out of town...talk with your child about it and we can put it on our calendar!
Then we compared how many people were in two of our friend's families...they both had five! The same!
We are reading the story of Noah this week and how he built an ark when God asked him to. God kept Noah, his family, and all of the animals safe on the ark while the earth was flooded with water. Then when the water was all dried up, God sent a rainbow promising to never flood the earth again. And God keeps His promises!
Reading to ourselves before snack time...the boys and girls really are getting better settling down and reading books!
We did a little subitizing during snack time today, subitizing is the ability to see a small amount of objects with out counting them. You are doing this when you know what number you roll on a six sided dice...many recognized one-four objects with no problem!
I didn't get a picture of the boys and girls taking guesses after taking a turn reaching into the feely sock...using only their hand and sense of touch to try to figure out what was inside...it was a train! Today I asked all the boys and girls the things that they know about trains...they know quite a few things and have ridden on them as well! I can't wait to find out what the boys and girls wonder about and would like to learn.
Lady Letter came to visit us today...she talked about the letter F...that silly lady had us make the letter F with our bodies...and we practiced what sound it makes and we sky wrote. Ask your child about lady letter. ;)
